JOB DESCRIPTION:

Works under the supervision of the Manager of Laboratory Services and/or the Transfusion Services Manager. Performs and interprets designated test procedures in the Rapid Response Laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology as trained. Responsible for adhering to regulations as issued by CAP, AABB, FDA, OSHA and any other applicable regulatory agencies. Performs a variety of laboratory duties following established procedures, protocols and guidelines of the department and/or organization. Performs quality control, trains new employees, adheres to hospital policies, takes part in continuing education and maintains positive interpersonal relationships. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical Technologist (MT) " Three years or more of academic studies at an accredited college. Completion of 12 consecutive months of internship in an accredited school of medical technology leading to a Bachelor's degree or work experience in a laboratory which qualifies for examination of a national registry Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) " High school diploma plus two years training from an accredited program. " Completion of an internship through an accredited school or work experience in a laboratory which qualifies for examination of a national registry " Ability to use initiative and good judgement " Ability to read and interpret data " Ability to work under stress with close attention to details " Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, public, co-workers and medical staff " In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include such other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon Exempla needs or requirements Medical Technologist (MT) " National Medical Technologist registration by ASCP or equivalent within 6 months of eligibility. Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) " National MLT registration by ASCP or equivalent.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Works under the supervision of the Microbiology Laboratory Manager. Performs and interprets all test procedures in the Microbiology Laboratory, including direct microscopic exams, inoculation of cultures, reading and interpreting cultures, performing MIC testing, AFB and Mycology cultures, parasitology procedures, direct antigen testing, molecular testing, and other microbiological testing as requested. Performs a variety of laboratory duties following established procedures, protocols and guidelines of the department and/or organization. Promotes mission, vision and values of ESJH and Exempla Healthcare. Actively fulfills Best in the Nation goals. Performs, interprets, correlates and reports test results. Verifies computer-generated reports. Investigates erroneous test values. Performs and documents quality control and quality assurance. Documents all quality control failures and corrective action taken. Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and makes minor repairs to instrumentation. Recognizes and solves problems or determines alternative solutions for analysis if needed and reports all deviations from established procedures to the Manager or appropriate Supervisor. Maintains accurate logs, records, files and all other required documentation. Participates in updating and reviewing of procedures. Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students. Completes training documentation as required. Performs other related job duties such as clerical tasks, sending specimens to reference laboratories, conducting verification tests on new products and instrument/procedure comparison, statistical analysis, and special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of an accredited 4 year school of Medical Technology or a Bachelor of Science with 1 year of Medical Technology training and internship at an accredited hospital. MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification is required.
