JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Duties

Works as an integral part of CCC Pharmacy team member and completes other duties as needed
- Prepares medication orders (ie. chemotherapy, biologics, IV admixtures and compounding) according to USP 797, CO Board of Pharmacy, Research protocols, and CCC Pharmacy Policies and Procedures
- Maintains competence required for current job title
- Develops and participates in projects designed for cost management, Joint Commission, and Process Flow improvement.
- Maintains Research Drug Accountability Logs
- Maintains FDA mandated REMS program medication compliance
- Maintains cleanliness of 797 Clean Room including Hazardous Waste Removal
- Maintains Refrigerator Temperature Logs
- Assists pharmacists and other team members by gathering clinical information on patients
- Provides and participates in education and training to pharmacy department personnel as well as other CCC departments as needed
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and requirements
- Answers phones and QCL’s (notes from physicians) in a timely manner

Manages CCC Pharmacy Medication and Supply Inventory
- Responsible for informing buyer if procurement of all formulary medications is needed
- Responsible for informing buyer if procurement of medical and office supplies are needed
- Reconciles and maintain all invoices
- Participates in annual pharmacy physical inventory
- Maximize inventory turns and oncology specific contracts
- Returns damaged, overstocked, or expired merchandise to manufacturers and wholesalers in a timely manner
- Resolves shipping problems/errors and expedites backorders
- Serves as resource for product cost and comparisons

Coordinates indigent drug recovery program (Medication Assistance)
- Identifies patients who may qualify for indigent recovery program
- Works with physician, patients, pharmacist, social worker, patient navigator, financial counselor, and pharmaceutical company to complete necessary paperwork
- Provides follow-up to ensure that recovery is tracked and completed
All other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school education
CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

2 years hospital technician experience
1 year retail experience
Oncology Experience
Computer Experience (Word, Excel, Power Point, EPIC, IMPAC MOSIAQ, McKesson HSS, McKesson Outpatient Rx, Kronos)
Pharmacy Admixture Experience (BAXA pump, CADD pumps, CSTD (closed-system transfer device-PhaSeal)
Hazardous Waste Knowledge
Spanish speaking
USP 797 knowledge
Drug Prior Authorization Experience (retail and/or medical benefits)
Medicare B and D billing Experience including ABN’s (advanced beneficiary notices)
Medical Terminology
Medical and Retail Pharmacy Insurance Benefit Experience
Medication/Co-Pay Assistance Programs

The resident will be an experienced and competent provider of pharmaceutical care. They will be confident in their ability to provide optimal patient care in various settings as well as for various disease states. This residency program has the goal to develop a well rounded pharmacy practitioner and future leader in pharmacy practice. The pharmacist will be skilled in pharmacy practice areas that include; patient centered pharmacotherapy, medication / disease education, pharmacy management and operations. The resident will demonstrate professional maturity by developing and following a personal philosophy of practice, monitoring their own performance, and demonstrating leadership and commitment to the pharmacy profession.

Core Rotations: (four to six weeks in length)

• Internal Medicine

• Infectious Disease

• Critical Care

• Emergency Medicine / Trauma

• Cardiology
